Critical Kiln Essentials Workshop

Content of the workshop will include:

  • The impact of Kiln Feed composition on the Burning Process.
  • Basic raw materials
  • How kiln feed effects kiln performance
  • Cement types and their implications for kiln operation
  • Kiln control concepts:  Fan, Fuel and Feed/Speed
  • Kiln Operations
  • The 27 basic Steps
  • The Arrow Diagram

Mike has been an active contributor to the Cement Industry for over 45 years. He has directed the commissioning of 23 new cement plants. MiKe was the Chief Commissioning Engineer on the start up of the first Pre-heater/Pre-calciner in the USA and on the world’s first coal fired flash calciner.

Mike has been active in the implementation of high level computer control of the kiln burning process.

MiKe headed a team that successfully developed the only recognized Operator Certification Program. To date over 200 control room operators have completed this demanding course of study and testing.

MiKe is a certified Environmental Assessor as well as a Registered Environmental Manager. 

He is recognized internationally as a lecturer on cement and lime plant operation and is a certified expert witness regarding the manufacturer of Portland Cement. He has been an active instructor for the PCA for over 15 years.

His firm, The ALITE Group, provides critical evaluation of cement plant personnel. The ALITE Group targets training for new cement personnel and for operators and first line supervisors.
